Seres, Baowu And Haitian Celebrate Mass Production Of Semi-Solid Magnesium CCB
On May 13, 2026, the world’s first mass-produced semi-solid magnesium alloy CCB (Instrument panel cross beam) from a partnership between Baowu Magnesium and Seres, officially rolled off the production line.
The production line uses magnesium alloy Thixomolding technology, with the core equipment being the large HMG3600 machine built by Haitian Metal.
To bring the project to mass production, Baowu Magnesium assembled a dedicated team that carried out extensive testing and optimization across material formulations, semi-solid processing, production line design, and overall process stability.
After several rounds of rigorous trials, the team claimed to have successfully resolved key technical challenges. All of this research culminated into the establishment of a dedicated magnesium thixomolding production line capable of a stable output of 1,000 units per day.
Real-world testing confirmed that the new magnesium alloy CCB achieved substantial weight savings compared with conventional designs, while delivering the high rigidity and crash safety performance required for modern vehicle bodies.
During trial production, months ago, Baowu Magnesium claimed the CCB weighed 3.8 kg with a shot weight of 6.1 kg and lenght of 1.4 meters.

Overcoming Corrosion Resistance Of Traditional Magnesium Alloys
According to Consumer Daily Network, Luyuan Group recently made a major appearance at the 2026 Shanghai International Bicycle Exhibition with its lightweight mobility product lineup. Among them, the world’s first “integrated die-cast” magnesium alloy electric-assisted mountain bike, the LYVA M05.
The bike’s frame was exclusively developed and manufactured by Baomei Precision, a subsidiary of Baowu Magnesium. Leveraging groundbreaking technological advantages, it has laid a solid core foundation for Luyuan’s lightweight strategy.
Baomei Precision has been deeply engaged in magnesium alloy material R&D and integrated die-casting processes for many years.
Baomei Precision has developed its own proprietary magnesium alloy material, in order to solve traditional weakness of magnesium alloys in corrosion resistance. Consequently the corrosion resistance for this bike frame is 10 times higher than that of ordinary magnesium alloys.
This was required to solve one of the industry pain points of magnesium alloys being prone to oxidation and corrosion in complex outdoor environments.
It ensures the frame remains as strong and new even after long-term use. At the same time, the material offers high strength and high toughness, perfectly balancing the dual needs of lightweight design and safety.
At the die-casting process level, Baomei Precision operates high-end equipment such as 7,000 ton die casting machines and has said to have mastered the challenges of easy oxidation in ultra-large magnesium alloy castings, typical of Gigacastings.
Compared with mainstream aluminum alloy frames, Baomei’s magnesium alloy frame achieves a 30% weight reduction, delivering a clear lightweight advantage that directly lowers riding effort and improves the handling agility.

GAC Issues Public Tender For 2 9100T Die Casting Islands
Huadi Technology has recently launched a public domestic tender for the first batch of die casting island equipment.
The tender covers the construction of 2 sets of 9,100-ton die casting island production lines. The project is self-funded by Huadi Technology, formerly known as Guangzhou GAC Mold & Stamping which is a joint venture automotive parts enterprise within the GAC Group supply chain. It specializes in lightweighting manufacturing, providing solutions for molds, body structural parts, and new energy vehicle components.
In February last year, Huadi Technology held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new factory which is being built in two phases.
Phase 1 will achieve annual capacities of 125,000 battery shells, 200,000 steel-aluminum subframes, and 130,000 body parts, serving GAC’s own brands and joint venture brands.
Phase 2 will focus on modular integrated die-casting, targeting completion in October 2026 with an annual capacity of 100,000 sets of front and rear underbody Gigacastings, providing lightweight solutions for GAC’s Hyper, Trumpchi, Aion, and other brands.
By using Gigacastings GAC previously stated they can reduce costs by 40%, weight by 20%, and improve crash safety compared to traditional processes.

Chenzhi Lightweight Delivers 5000T Magnesium Thixomolding Trunk Liftgate Mold
Chenzhi Lightweight, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Changan Automobile, successfully delivered its liftgate inner structural panel mold for a 5,000-ton magnesium thixomolding machine.
In the past month, Changan produced the first cast on a two-cavity mold using the company’s newly commissioned 5,000 ton die casting unit integrated with a magnesium Thixomolding module. The 5,000-ton machine is equipped with a TPI magnesium Thixomolding module capable of an 18 kg shot weight. Full article here.
